About Cute Threads

When people ask me when I started making children's clothing, I always start by saying, "Well, I've always made something."

When I was in my early twenties, I purchased my first sewing machine at a used sewing machine/vacuum store. The owner was kind enough to sit with me and teach me how to use the machine. I started making pillows. There were decorative pillows on every surface of my house, of my mother’s house, of my friends’ and relatives’ houses!

Several years later, when I was lucky enough to become a mom, I made blankets for my newborn son. We received a lot of compliments on the blankets and I started making them for friends as gifts and eventually selling them.

Two years later, my daughter was born. And I thought boy clothes were cute! I browsed local boutiques for some different types of clothing, but the price tags were too high and the quality was too low. Little by little I started making things for both of my kids. I always loved the look of tie dyed clothing and finally took the initiative to learn how to do it.

Things quickly took off from there. We could not leave the house without receiving compliments and inquiries about my kids’ clothes. I realized that home parties were a great venue for CuteThreads. The hostess gets free clothing and I get to meet a lot of people and sell my stuff, not to mention chips and dip.

We only use the finest quality cotton clothing blanks, colorfast dyes and cotton appliqués.

Thanks for looking!
